Last Sunday the Church was set on fire. The Spirit descended, the doors of the upper room were thrown open, and the disciples who had been hiding began to speak with a boldness that startled even themselves. Pentecost is not a memory. It is a promise that keeps being fulfilled — in your home, this week, in the middle of everything. The gifts of the Holy Spirit are not abstractions your children memorize for a test. They are what you actually need. Wisdom when the curriculum isn't working. Fortitude on the day you want to quit. Counsel when your teenager asks a question you weren't ready for. Understanding when a child is struggling and you can't figure out why. Knowledge when you're choosing next year's books. Piety in the small moments no one sees. Fear of the Lord when the world presses in and you need to remember who you're really answering to. The Spirit came at Pentecost and he did not leave. He is here, in your home, right now. Ask him for what you need today.
"The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control." — Galatians 5:22–23
