The Church gives us one of the most beautiful scenes in all of Scripture: two disciples walking the road to Emmaus, sad and confused, joined by a stranger they do not yet recognize as the Risen Christ. He walks with them. He listens. He opens the Scriptures. And only at the table, in the breaking of the bread, do their eyes finally open. For homeschool families, this is the whole shape of what we do. We walk with our children through ordinary roads that often feel like they're going nowhere. We talk through hard things. We open books together. And the moments of real recognition — when a child suddenly understands, when grace breaks in at the dinner table, when faith becomes their own — almost always come when we least expect them. Christ is the third walker on every homeschool road. Keep walking. Keep talking. Keep breaking bread together.
"Were not our hearts burning within us while he spoke to us on the road?" — Luke 24:32

Celebrating America's 250th
America is turning 250, and Houston is marking the moment with a remarkable lineup of free and family-friendly events. Fleet Week Houston runs April 15–22 with ship tours, the Naval Ceremonial Band at HMNS, naval shows, and a drone show along the Seabrook waterfront. In May, original founding-era documents come to HMNS as part of the Freedom Plane National Tour — including a Stone Engraving of the Declaration of Independence and the Senate markup of the Bill of Rights. And year-round, you can tour the replica Independence Hall at Houston Christian University for free.
We've put it all together in one place. Download now for dates, locations, and links to plan your family's visits.
This is the kind of resource CHECH builds for Houston Catholic homeschool families every week. If you're enjoying our guides and newsletters, consider becoming a member — your support keeps this work going and unlocks our full library of member resources, enrichment programs, and community events.

RC History
Connecting with History is a Catholic, classical, chronological, literature-based history curriculum designed for the whole family to learn together. Each volume covers a different era — from ancient civilizations through the modern world — with lesson plans for every age, from beginner through rhetoric level. It's the kind of curriculum that turns history from a subject into a story your family lives in together — and the same curriculum used by Queen of Saints Co-Op (featured above).
